An art programme discovering the connections between zero tides, industry, and people.

The Art Programme

Egersund stands uniquely, cradled by the Magma UNESCO Global Geopark—a region echoing the moon’s geology and defined by its intriguing absence of tides. "The Tide is Changing" seeks to:

  • Illuminate the peculiar absence of tides and its significant role in shaping Egersund's community and industry.

  • Use art as a tool to deepen our connection with our natural surroundings, particularly the unique coastal landscape.

  • Provide opportunities for both the local community and global artists to engage and bring forth works that stimulate thought, discussion, and sustainable actions.

Curated by Ida Højgaard, the five-year journey of this programme invites you to explore art installations, art competitions, artist residencies, and an array of projects that intersect art, geology, maritime heritage, and technological advances. Join us in this celebration of art, nature, and culture.
