Project I
Ebb and Flow
Ebb and Flow by Visual Artist Rine Rodin (DK/SE)
In "Ebb and Flow", Rine Rodin delves into our relationships with nature and one another, exploring themes of witches, the moon, tides, and beyond.
This site-specific, participatory performance was conceived in partnership with Jøssingfjord Vitenmuseum, Velferden Sokndal’s Centre for Contemporary Art, and Masterchef Rune Løyning. Produced by Louis Veilex and curated by Ida Højgaard, it was hosted at two remarkable geosites within the Magma UNESCO Global Geopark: Jøssingfjord on September 25th, 2021, and Eigerøy Lighthouse the following day.
PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME
Part I: Beginning with a guided hike, participants concluded their journey at a poignant site where Rodin revitalized the age-old art of oral storytelling. Local tales were shared, captured, and archived for posterity.
Part II: Rodin engaged the participants in a transformative exercise, contemplating the relationship between humanity and nature. Together, they crafted ephemeral sculptures and formations echoing the moon's visage, immortalized through drone footage.
Part III: Culminating in a gastronomic experience, Masterchef Rune Løyning prepared a curated menu, narrating the tale of salmon through ingredients indigenous to the sea and the local—evoking its past, present, and future.
