Project Two

The Tidal Node Art Competition:
An Intersection of Art and Nature in Egersund's Heartbeat

Three distinguished Nordic artists and collectives have been selected to conceptualize a landmark artwork for Egersund's vibrant harbour area, affectionately localised as 'Byteltstomta'. This competition seeks not just an art piece, but an emblematic symbol that resonates with and creates dialogue about the unique geology and amphidromic point in the North Sea. Our vision? To cultivate a space that teems with inspiration, examining new ways to develop communal urban spaces, drawing visitors and locals alike to a meeting point echoing Egersund's heritage and promise.

The competition is held in collaboration with the Art Committee for the art programme, Eigersund municipality and curator Ida Højgaard. It is kindly supported by KORO Public Art Norway, Rogaland Fylkeskommune and Eigersund Municipality.

The competition will run until August 2021.
The winning proposal is planned to be realised in November 2023.

  • Studio ThinkingHand

An art project that embraces the changing world, and brings together the sea, the city and industry in an affirmative way, to speculate how we can adapt and evolve towards a new kind of future.

  • Magnhild Øen Nordahl

An art project that specifically addresses what it means that there is no difference between high and low tide and illustrates this scientific abstraction through an interactive relief.
