Proposal II for the art project The Tidal Node

Studio ThinkingHand has submitted a proposal for a large scale public art work consisting of 7 sculptural marine habitat discs that will be placed in different locations in the sea around the amphidromic point in collaboration with local divers and marine biologists. When the sea has left its mark on the discs, they are brought up to the surface again, conserved and sealed before being put up in a landscape and light installation on Jernbanekaien, which shape is inspired by the design language of the amphidromic point.

The artists have been visiting Egersund during the competition period and established collaborations with local ocean experts and divers. It will be possible to arrange events and communication efforts for the locals to follow the process and the creation of the work. The work is lit up at night and creates a cosy atmosphere for hanging out and for having conversations in and around the surroundings.
